Benoni Defense: King's Pawn Line, with Bg5 (variation 2)

A dynamic and aggressive opening that aims to control the center and create imbalances early on.

1. d4 2. Nf6 3. c4 4. c5 5. d5 6. e6 7. Nc3 8. exd5 9. cxd5 10. d6 11. e4 12. g6 13. f3 14. Bg7 15. Bg5

The opening begins with a pawn push to d4, followed by a knight development to f6 and a pawn exchange on c4. White then pushes the d-pawn forward, leading to a series of pawn exchanges in the center. Black responds by fianchettoing the king's bishop and developing the light-squared bishop to g7. White then plays f3 to support the pawn on e4 and prepares to fianchetto the dark-squared bishop. The move Bg5 puts pressure on the knight on f6 and aims to provoke weaknesses in Black's pawn structure. This variation often leads to sharp and tactical positions where both sides have chances for an attack. Players of this opening must be prepared for complex middlegame positions with chances for both sides.
